Believe in what you say, and say it as yourself, whoever you are, with passion and authenticity

It’s a year since I diversified my portfolio and started working with public speaking and presenting. I’ve moved from an environment where I work with keen singers, many of whom can’t wait to perform on stage, to working with people in business who may have real anxiety around performance and presenting.

There are so many strategies to enhance presenting and public speaking skills, from looking at pacing, delivery and content right through to strategies to manage nerves. But the big one? It’s how to be yourself. No need to put on the cloak of ‘someone elseness’, as you try to fit some stereotype of a charismatic and confident leader. Instead, you need to believe in what you say, and say it as yourself, whoever you are, with passion and authenticity.
